Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all our past and future guests! Today we honor my mom, Jean, who you may have met during your stay. She keeps our linens pressed and ready to dress the beds, helps us with breakfast, and greets guests when we are away from the inn.

If you missed any of her recipes on our blog, be sure to check out Grandmother Wehking's Holland Custard Dessert and our Marinated Flank Steak Sliders with Spicy Black Bean and Corn Salsa.

William Rouse Log Cabin Suite Update

We have made an update to the bathroom in the log cabin suite. If you are a former guest, you might remember that the air-jet whirlpool bathtub was filled with water from a waterfall spigot in the ceiling.

While this feature is unique, we decided to update the water system so that it now fills traditionally from the side of the tub. The relaxing whirlpool features are the same, but now there is no risk of forgetting to move out of the way when the tub is being filled with water. Enjoy!

Creating Space for Your Houseguests

Summer travel may being friends and family members to your home. Here are a few things that we think help to create a hospitable space for guests:

- Reading lights
- Good pillows (two kinds - stiff and soft - to help sit up in bed)
- A pampering bath robe
- Quality shower head with good water pressure
- Good magazines and current reading material
- Keep it simple, do not use too many decorations in a bedroom
- Try to limit your personal stuff so there will be enough surface for their things
- Add a small fan; cooler is better than hot for most people
- Open a window to let fresh air in
- Put some cookies on their pillow (our recipe can be found here)

But just remember people can be like fish - it goes bad in three days no matter how nice you make it!

(Or you can always refer them to a bed and breakfast in town!)
